Automotive Location Scouting in Italy

Finding the right road, the right light and the right backdrop requires an in-depth knowledge of Italian territory — Alpine and Apennine mountain passes, the open coastal roads of the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian, the industrial outskirts of Milan and Turin, the smaller towns that have never seen a film crew. After three decades working with Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Lexus, Peugeot, Subaru and Volvo, we know which locations photograph well and which ones don’t.

Road Permits and Local Authorities

Filming on Italian roads involves multiple layers of authorisation: the Comune, the Provincia, ANAS for state roads, regional authorities, and in some cases the Polizia Locale or Polizia Stradale for traffic management. Certified personnel for road blocks are also often required. We manage the full process from the first application to the day of the shoot, with no surprises.

Driving Scenes and Safety Coordination

Road conditions, traffic patterns, light windows, safety distances and camera vehicle logistics all need to be assessed before the crew arrives. We carry out technical recces with the director and DOP, define the optimal shooting windows for each location, and coordinate road closures with local authorities. On the day, we are on set from the first light to the last shot.

On-Set Problem Solving for International Crews

Last-minute permit complications, location changes, logistics gaps, language barriers with local suppliers and institutions. We have managed location crises on the morning of the shoot and kept productions on schedule in situations where an inexperienced local contact would have called it impossible. Italy is a complex country to film in — but manageable, with the right person on the ground.
